Modern applications in laser technology, particle detection, high power lightning and electron microscopy demand more than state-of-the-art materials; they require complex, custom-engineered systems. This contribution presents Crytur’s R&D activities through a unified developmental pathway, spanning from initial single crystal growth to the realization of fully integrated opto-electrical solutions.
At the core of our approach is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that unites experts in material and high-energy particle physics, thin-film deposition, optics, precision mechanical engineering, and advanced electronics under one roof. This synergy enables us to cover the entire development cycle in-house: from physical modeling and simulations to custom thin-film optical coatings, mechanical design, the development of custom control and readout electronics, and final system integration and testing.
Highlighting our industrial scale, Crytur is the global No. 1 supplier of detection units for electron microscopy, having delivered over 5,000 units in 2022. PwC Company of the Year 2023 in Czechia wiht more than 450 employees, 27 PhDs.
Alongside large-scale serial manufacturing, we specialize in developing unique, highly customized solutions for international research facilities. In high-energy physics, we participate in the integration of complete detection assemblies for electromagnetic calorimetry and tracking at experiments including CMS (CERN), EEEMCAL (EIC- BNL), and PANDA (FAIR). Similarly, we partner with world-class laser centers like HiLASE and ELI (Extreme Light Infrastructure) to develop high-threshold components capable of withstanding extreme optical intensities.
