Description
The polymers are very sensitive and good category of soft matter because they are made of long, flexible molecular chains held together by weak intermolecular forces, materials, and easily deform under external forces or room-temperature thermal fluctuations. Combining Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) with soft matter like polymers is wonderful because it carries the ultrahigh porosity and catalytic design of rigid crystals with the flexibility, processability, and mechanical robustness of soft polymers. This creates hybrid materials that overcome the individual limitations of both. The main differences between the nature of MOFs and polymers have motivated efforts to hybridize crystalline MOFs and flexible polymers to produce composites that retain the desired properties of these disparate materials. This study has shown that MOFs can be used to influence polymer structure, and polymers can be used to modulate MOF growth and characteristics. In this study, we have chosen Zn – Metal Organic Frame Work (Zn-MOF) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) polymer as a soft matter to combine them and develop PVDF-Zn MOF nanocomposites by chemical rout. The 40 µm thick thin film of nanocomposites were prepared to study structural and thermal properties. The structural properties were evaluated by SEM and thermal properties by DSC and TGA. This study suggests the β phase enhancement by incorporation of MOF and presence of γ phase in PVDF nanocomposite matrix.
