Abstract:

Mediators of weak interaction - vector bosons W and Z - are related to the history of the Standard Model in an inseparable way. The electroweak part of the Standard Model, including the Higgs sector, was created as a direct consequence of an effort to describe these particles and their interactions in the framework of quantum field theory. Investigation of these particles represents an essential part of the physics program of past, current and future high energy experiments. The history of investigation of weak bosons, selected results of ATLAS collaboration and future perspectives will be presented.

The seminar will be held in the conference hall in the main building of the Institute of Physics, Na Slovance 2, Prague 8 on the ground floor.
