Probing QCD with jets

by Filip Krizek (Nuclear Physics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences)

Description

Abstract:

Jets are multi-scale dynamic objects whose complex structure conveys information about QCD. They can be also utilized as convenient probes of the QCD matter produced in heavy-ion collisions. The talk will overview recent jet measurements that were obtained in pp and heavy-ion collisions at the LHC. In particular, we will discuss application of jet substructure techniques for confirmation of the dead cone effect in jets associated with D0-meson production, we will discuss how jets get modified when interacting with QCD matter, and finally, we will report on searches for jet quenching effects in collision systems having a small number of participating nucleons.

The seminar will be held in the conference hall in the main building of the Institute of Physics, Na Slovance 2, Prague 8 on the ground floor.
