Relativistic positioning systems and satellite tracking

by Justin Christopher Feng (CEICO, Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences)

Description

Abstract:

In this talk, I discuss the framework of relativistic positioning systems for satellite navigation. In particular, I describe past work on the relativistic location problem (i.e., the determination of a user's position from satellite data) in a generic spacetime geometry, in which automatic differentiation is applied to numerically integrated geodesics. I also describe recent progress in applying these methods to the inverse problem of satellite tracking and metric determination.
